We understand that each book deserves special attention and it’s difficult to fit it into distinct categories. But when you’re an author looking to bring your book to a larger audience, it’s helpful to have an indication of what to expect in terms of service as well as cost. We developed the packages below to cover a large proportion of our common projects. But if your work deviates from the descriptions below, we are happy to be flexible to help you with the exact service you require.
Basic Formatting
For all of the basic formatting packages you will receive the ebook back in epub & mobi format. This means it can be read on the most popular ereaders; Kindle, Sony, Kobo, Nook, iBooks on iPad, etc. If you intend to self publish to these various platforms, these two formats should be enough. But if you intend to self publish on Smashwords, you will require a special Smashwords file also, please see the “Add Ons” section for further details.

Discount Package –
Specifically for short stories or novellas of up to / around 15,000 words.
Assumptions:
- Existing or separately ordered cover art
- Mainly text with basic formatting; bold, italics, underlined, etc.
- Minimal images; cover image, up to 4 illustrations, author photograph
- Minimal links; only in table of contents and link to author’s website and/or places to buy other books
- No tables or footnotes
Basic Novel –
Fiction, up to 50,000 words.
Assumptions:
- Existing or separately ordered cover art
- Mainly text with basic formatting; bold, italics, underlined, etc.
- Minimal images; cover image, up to 10 illustrations, author photograph
- Minimal links; only in table of contents and link to author’s website and/or places to buy other books
- No tables
- Occasional footnotes (Please note that footnotes will be presented as End Notes because ebooks do not have a supported format for footnotes being displayed on the same page as the original text).
Long Novel –
Fiction, up to 100,000 words.
Assumptions:
- Existing or separately ordered cover art
- Mainly text with basic formatting; bold, italics, underlined, etc.
- Minimal images; cover image, up to 25 illustrations, author photograph
- Minimal links; only in table of contents and link to author’s website and/or places to buy other books
- No tables
- Occasional footnotes (Please note that footnotes will be presented as End Notes because ebooks do not have a supported format for footnotes being displayed on the same page as the original text).
Non Fiction
Non Fiction is a lot more complicated due to the vast differences in types of text and formatting you may require. For example you may require a lot of illustrations and photographs, or bullet lists. Perhaps your book has lots of tables in it. It would be best to contact us and send us a sample of the book so we can get a better idea of what you require.
Anything else
If you feel your book does not fit into the above categories, perhaps it’s longer or you would like your fiction work to have more illustrations or specially formatted chapter headings etc. we can still help! Please contact us with a detailed description of what you’re after so we can prepare a proper quote.
Add Ons
Cover art can be provided on request. Basic covers can be as simple as a professionally purchased photograph with your book title and author’s name. If you require an artist to draw a custom image for you as the cover, costs will increase accordingly.
Smashwords requires users to upload the ebook in their proprietary format; an MS Word file which has been carefully formatted to suit their requirements. Although Smashwords will then convert to Epub, Mobi and other formats, they do not at this time allow users to upload an Epub file directly. If you would like to use Smashwords, we would be happy to provide the right kind of file. Please note that due to its different format, it is a laborious process to create the suitable MS Word file; it cannot be automatically converted from the Epub/Mobi files we normally provide. Therefore we have to charge an additional fee for this service.
